GET TO KNOW ME
With over 16 years of experience in global affairs and U.S. national security, I’ve had the privilege of serving in the Caribbean, South Asia, and the Northeast Africa. My career has included over five years of shaping policy. I've built effective teams with a variety of stakeholders throughout the U.S. government and private sector that have prepared senior leaders for success in Washington.

Before my international work, I supported the headquarters command of the Navy Medicine Enterprise and contributed to election support efforts in Latin America. Throughout my career, I’ve built a track record of fostering cross-cultural connections, navigating complex policy landscapes, and driving toward measurable results.

Outside of work, I enjoy cycling, being on the water and slopes, hiking and photography, cooking for family and friends, reading poetry and prose, and co-creating imaginary worlds with children.

EXPERIENCE
2009 - Present
U.S. Department of State
U.S. Foreign Service Officer
As a U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Economic Officer, I am dedicated to promoting and maintaining positive economic and trade relations between the United States and countries worldwide. In this role, I engage with a diverse array of stakeholders—including business leaders, government officials, non-governmental organizations, academics, and representatives from multilateral organizations—to advance U.S. economic and commercial interests.

My responsibilities encompass analyzing and reporting on economic conditions and trends in host countries, providing insights that inform U.S. policy formulation and implementation. Through extensive training in economics, trade, commercial diplomacy, energy, and environmental issues, I am equipped to navigate the complexities of the global economy and effectively influence and implement economic and trade policies.

By fostering robust international partnerships and facilitating economic collaboration, I strive to contribute to global stability and growth, reflecting the United States' commitment to shared prosperity.
2007 - 2009
Batelle
Researcher
I supported Navy Medicine, a key component of the Department of the Navy, in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of their emergency management programs. This included designing comprehensive response protocols, coordinating interagency collaboration, and leading exercises to test and refine preparedness strategies for a range of crisis scenarios. My work helped enhance operational readiness, ensure resilience across medical facilities, and strengthen the organization’s ability to effectively manage emergencies both domestically and internationally.
2008 - 2009
City of Alexandria
Commissioner, Environmental Policy Commission
As a co-drafter of the Environmental Action Plan 2030 (EAP), I helped create a roadmap for city leaders, staff, and citizens to implement the sustainability visions and principles outlined in Alexandria’s Eco-City Charter (adopted by City Council on June 14, 2008). The plan outlines how Alexandria can lead the emerging green economy, address the impacts of climate change, and maintain its high quality of life while reducing the city’s carbon and ecological footprints.

In shaping the EAP, I contributed to articulating a vision where Alexandria’s citizens, businesses, and City government collaborate to build a vibrant, sustainable future. Together, we defined sustainability, established guiding principles, and clarified roles and responsibilities to ensure collective action toward a more resilient and environmentally conscious community.
